I was born in Maharashtra and am a true Indian. I have loved the city of Mumbai equally as my family. It forced me to write this because of the wrong picture that is being painted about Maharashtra and Maharshtrians by our media. I personally feel Mumbai is deteriorating or we can say rather being deteriorated.
Let’s not relate everything to politics. After this Rahul Raj incidence now it is the time that we really need to check upon this uncontrolled migration which leads to fear and insecurity in local people. Remember this agitation is only for UP and Biharis. You will ask why? I will explain. There are Bengalis here. But I have never seen Jyoti Basu or Bhattacharya come here and give speeches to them. Tamilians live here. I have never seen Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa come here and give those speeches like, ‘Come together Tamilians’ etc. Instead of doing some improvement in UP/Bihar, these leaders are supporting such migration and creating future vote bank. Why can’t they provide jobs in their own state?
Why this migration in large scale occurring? Who is responsible for this migration? It is clearly the Political Leaders of UP and Bihar who have done nothing for their people in last 60 years since independence and indulged in encouraging caste fights and goons and corruption who are now leaders in Up & Bihar. Why would Aam-Aadmi of UP & Bihar leave his home and family and come all the way to Maharashtra. Because they cannot make a decent living in UP & Bihar. They are coming in huge number every day. Everyone is careless over this migration issue. The politicians of UP & Bihar have failed to uplift their living conditions and provided them with no safety and security. Now the same leaders and their media blame Raj Thackeray for his agitation against unchecked migration. Why should Maharashtrians take the brunt for the deliberate neglect by these leaders of UP & Bihar? Why should we take this ‘theka’ for each and every jobless individual from their state to accommodate in our homes? Media keeps mum on this issue as usual.
There was a picture in a leading English newspaper in Mumbai. The picture was showing a taxiwalla and his son sleeping in the taxi. And the caption was ‘taxiwalla moinuddin sheik is homeless and sleeps every night in his taxi’. This is where question should be asked. If he does not have a home in Maharashtra how come he even managed to get taxi driving permit in Mumbai?? This is one example. They don’t even have 8th pass original certificate which is mandatory to issue a taxi permit license in Mumbai. Many of them get a fake certificate from places like ‘Azamgarh (UP)’ that says ‘aanthvi paas hai’. In spite of breaking all the laws media advocates them saying ‘garib roji-roti ke liye aate hai’. We must have a rigorous check on each and every individual coming into Mumbai or Maharashtra for better security.
Lets talk about the situation of Railway recruitment board. There exams are held in all zones in India because the local people living in that zone should get benefit. But laloo wants to make Indian Railways into a complete Bihari railway. Advertisement of such exam must be published in the local news paper. But there was no such type of advertisement published in the local Marathi newspaper. Is that a deliberate attempt so that Maharshtrians would be un-aware of these local jobs? Why? Statistics says that in Maharashtra almost 80% of central rail and western rail employees are North Indian (e.g kumar, Prasad, tiwari, mishra, yadav etc etc). They want to hire only there people and not others because railway dept belongs to laloo? How can someone take our job? Statistics says that there are 40 lacks unemployed youth in Maharashtra. Then what is the need of un-necessary influx from out-side the state? If Hindi is your regional language that doesn’t mean that you can capture all central govt jobs.
The issue is not just limited to Mumbai or Maharashtra but it is becoming a serious concern in other states as well. The only reason is their stubbornness to adjust with the local culture.
We must now understand the ground reality or the root cause.
For some people sitting in Delhi and writing about an issue is much simpler. As a mumbaikar, I pay tax but what I get in returns? Nothing! Since my childhood I have always been travelling in such a crowded local train travelled standing all the time. The un-necessary influx is no more contributing to Mumbai but eating all our resources. That’s true!

THE PICTURE SAYS IT ALL..!!
An Up-ite like Kripa Shankar Singh can become a Minister in Maharashtra can a Maharshtrians ever dream of becoming a Minister in UP & Bihar? They will never allow this to happen. Well, what is the history of such leaders? We would have followed their model if they had made U.P. and Bihar progressive states and created paradise. But these leaders have exploited the poor man there and impoverished these states by bringing in a mafia culture. What are these leaders saying here? “Take action against Raj Thackeray because he is a goonda!” Therefore, the shameless leaders of UP & Bihar should first begin to improve the living conditions of their own subjects then criticise Raj Thackeray. They have no moral right to criticise Raj Thackeray.
The basic problem is with Hindi media is that they always tend to be politically correct and try to butter the politicians in power and go with wind. If their political bosses give them orders to attack, poor guys have no option to at least bark if not bite!
If you remember, during godhra incident, some news channels have given biased and one sided coverage against modi. They were more interested in the riot issue rather than the burning of Sabarmati express.
Neither they are willing to investigate the matter, nor do they try to be responsible and present all the perspectives of the issue to their viewers. Hence their reports tend to be very shallow and loud. Just look at the quality and substance in most of the so called “breaking news”, one can understand the quality of the reporting and understand that the only intention is to create noise as if the truth in the other side will get drown. What nonsense! They are shouting their throats hoarse every time they report about Marathi agitation. “Gondagiri”, “jahar ugala”, “Hitler” etc phrases have lost their meaning and sound so stupid. No wonder that they sound all the same all the time, as if they are playing from the archives. Sometimes I wonder it’s only coming from Hindi media. Is it because majority of reporters in Hindi media are from UP/Bihar? English media and Marathi media seems realistic. The local reporters can tell you off the record how their bosses sitting in Delhi and Noida tell them to twist the facts and file reports full of lies and half truths.
If a train is burnt in bihar then it is burnt by ‘chaatra’ and if anything happens in Mumbai, it is done by ‘goondas’. This is not fair?
Nowadays, everyone is teaching constitution to Maharashtra. ‘In this country, anyone can come in any state...And...Bla...Bla’. They are forgetting that constitution was written by one of the Maharashtrians, Dr BR Ambedkar. If you read his book, you can find some astonishing facts. During 1947 Hindi was declared as a national language by congress because of one extra vote which was given in favour of Hindi. 77 votes against Hindi and 78 in favour of Hindi. So Hindi won just because the difference of one vote. Some very intelligent people also says that how can you devide people on the basis of language? They say that ‘bhasha jodne ka saadhan hai, todne ka nahi’. I completely agree, but exactly in a similar way I can reply to all of those living here from last 30 years and cant utter a single word of Marathi, ‘Mujhe hindi aati hai, kya aapko Marathi aati hai?’ if I can learn hindi in couple of months, why cant you learn Marathi in 30 years? Or you are not willing to?
What’s wrong if Raj Thackeray is expecting to speak Marathi from non-Maharashtrian people? Only this young Marathi leader is man enough to check the political, social and cultural encroachment on Maharashtra and Mumbai, single handedly without much political experience and support from other political parties in Maharashtra. He is not a coward like other politician and dares to speak the truth and nothing else. Why these leaders (laloo, mulayam, paswan, amarsingh) are always interested in Mumbai only and have nothing to do with any other part of India. Some Bihari and UP corporators have now proposed official language of Mumbai Corporation as Hindi instead of Marathi. What can you expect when there are slogans written everywhere in mumbai “UP to hamari hai, ab maharashtra ki baari hai” and “Uttarpradesh to jhaanki hai, maharashtra abhi baaki hai”.Why? What’s cooking in their mind?
But for congress, they are their ‘valued’ vote banks. The Maharashtra state’s rulers do not understand the language of fasting and ‘dharma’ so MNS have to adopt those means which will make them understand the demands. The British who understood the language of non-violence left long back but the present rulers have become thick skinned and are completely insensitive towards the sentiments of the people. The government has no concern whether you survive or die. They need you only on the voting day for a couple of hours. We also want a united India. But the other states are acting in such a manner, how can you expect that it will remain united?

And of course, you must not forget that everyone has the right to a livelihood. If Maharashtra didn’t have the jobs, they wouldn’t have been their first place. Why do they have to lose out in competition to the migrants?
